How to Keep your Skin Healthy during Monsoon | Monsoon Skin Care Guide

After harsh summers, here comes Monsoon.. I am so excited. Yay!!!

The fresh earthy fragrance when the first rain hits the dry earth, cool breeze, pakodas or samosas with a hot cup of tea with family and friends, romantic songs - Monsoon season surely brings incredible joys. So love to romance the monsoon season but it also brings along  humidity which definitely calls for special care of the skin.

So, here is a handy guide to keep your skin fresh and healthy during Monsoons:

Cleaning, Toning and Moisturizing

Dry Skin:  Dryness is a sign of dehydration! Monsoon season is definitely harsh on people with dry skin. Cream based cleanser, alcohol free toner and a good moisturizer will definitely help people with dry skin to romance the monsoon season without any worries.
Oily Skin: Washing your face two to three times a day and scrubbing your face on a regular basis will keep all the skin problems at bay. Astringents should be used rather than toners. A big 'no' to heavy Cleansing Creams.
Combination Skin: For those with combination skin, use a gentle moisturising non-soap cleanser. Scrub your face at least twice a week to remove dust and blackheads. Moisturise twice in a day with a light-weight moisturiser.

Recommended Facials according to Skin Type:

Dry Skin: Chocolate Facial
Oily Skin: Aloe Vera Facial
Combination Skin: Fruit facial with milk.

Make-Up:

Heavy makeup should definitely be avoided during the monsoon season. Use light-weight and water-proof makeup products. For people with Combination Skin, opt for mineral range which will keep your skin oil-free.

Sunscreen protection:

Even if the sun remains hidden behind the clouds or tangos with the rain, as long as it is daytime, our skin needs protection from UVA and UVB rays. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you step out and re-apply the same every three to four hours.

Recommended sunscreen according to skin types:
Dry Skin: A light weight sunscreen with SPF 30 that protects and hydrates the skin is recommended.
Oily Skin: A gel-based sunscreen with SPF 30 is recommended.
Combination Skin: A hydrating sunscreen with SPF 30 is recommended.

Last but not the least, keeping yourself hydrated, having healthy balanced diet and exercising helps in keeping all skin problems at bay irrespective of the season.

Enjoy the Monsoon Magic to the fullest people!!!
Love and Peace.
